The Introduction

It’s raining here in Johannesburg and the room is getting really dark. I’m between online classes that I teach on two different online platforms (more on that later) and. in an hour and a half, the power will be cut for two hours because of “load shedding.”

I’m a poet, amateur photographer, online English teacher/tutor, and professor. And now I’ve decided that between classes and while I still have electricity, I’ll kick off this blog. What can you expect from this? I’m an expat American living in South Africa; my wife and I own a business, have a pecan farm, and travel around this sometimes nutty country. It is a wonderful, even if frustrating, country full of great people, amazing places, and great food. I have a lot of stories and experiences that only can come from living in this place.

Also, one of my biggest passions is poetry and creative writing. I spend much of my free time reading and writing. I want to create a space where I can share poets and their work with you. On a weekly basis, I will pick a poet, movement, single poem, style, etc. to talk about. Why? Because I don’t think the world interacts with literature, and especially poetry, enough.

Check out the About page to find out more about me… And I’ll see you in the next one.
